The Blessings of the Breasts :: Devotional Day 4

“The God of your father—may he help you!
And may The Strong God (El Shaddai)—may she give you her blessings,
Blessings tumbling out of the skies,
blessings bursting up from the Earth—
           blessings of breasts and womb.”

~Genesis 49: 21-26

These are the blessing of breasts: nourishment and comfort.

These blessings spurt forth, in search of the recipient, even when the baby is not around. A lactating woman looks a photo of her baby and starts to leak. She hears another infant cry and the milk spurts out. The breasts, therefore, manifest a deep, underlying connection among all of us, one that is uniquely experienced by lactating women, and can be known by all human beings.

Just so, God is constantly searching for us – yearning to be near us and to meet our needs.

The blessings of the breast come from a powerful and mighty source, El Shaddai, who knows just what her children need–she knows she is capable of giving it to them.

Her blessings of the breast feed us, soothe us, remind us of where we belong and let us know we’re safe.

Once you’re out of the womb, you are in need of essential nutrients and comfort to continue your development.

How does God wish to nourish you today?
