Do you ever feel like you try and pray, but you’re not sure if you’re just hearing your own voice over and over again? Did your prayer life used to mean a lot to you, but now it doesn’t? Has your faith evolved and you’re not sure how to talk to God anymore? Spiritual Direction can help. It’s like getting a coach for your spiritual life.
Spiritual Direction is a one-on-one conversation where the directee and director talk about God’s movement in our everyday lives, including looking closely at prayer experiences for indications of God’s desires for us.
I offer spiritual direction in the tradition of Ignatian Spirituality and discernment of spirits. I hold a Master of Divinity and a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from the Jesuit School of Theology.
I maintain an open and affirming spiritual direction practice and have experience working with LGBTQ+ persons. I also affirm an open and fluid understanding of the Divine and have most of my experience directing cis-women. I teach at a Catholic school and call myself a progressive Catholic. I believe that every human being is loved unconditionally, fully, and freely by the maker of the universe.
Online or in-person
I meet with directees online via Zoom meetings. Sessions last about 1 hour.
My fees are on a sliding scale from $0 for full-time volunteers, students, and those experiencing severe financial hardship to $100/session for those who are employed full-time and experience privilege in their circumstances. I collect fees via Venmo.
Preparing for a session
If we are meeting online, set up your space in a quiet, private area with reliable wifi and a power source. I recommend supplying a glass of water or cup of tea along with a box of tissues. Try to sit in a comfortable and supportive place.
Consider expanding your Zoom window to encompass your whole screen such that no other windows are visible. I prefer to minimize my own face to zero while chatting – you might too!
